3. Meaning of personal information
For the purposes of this Policy, personal information generally means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not the information is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.

Business representatives should avoid submitting private residential addresses, personal mobile numbers or personal email addresses for publication unless they want that information displayed publicly.
We may, at our discretion and subject to law, verify, edit, standardise, moderate, decline, suspend or remove listing content.

10. Analytics
We may use third-party analytics services to help us understand usage of the Platform.
These services may receive technical information such as IP address, device information, page views, interaction events and cookie or device identifiers.
Where practical, we configure analytics tools to minimise collection and to support privacy-conscious settings.
11. Mapping, geocoding and directions services
The Platform may use third-party mapping, geocoding, location, directions or place-information services.
When you interact with map functionality, those providers may process technical, search or location information in accordance with their own terms and privacy policies.
We do not control the independent data handling practices of those third-party providers.
12. Direct marketing
We may send marketing or promotional communications where:
- you have consented;
- you would reasonably expect to receive them;
- we are otherwise permitted to do so by law; or
- the communication relates to a business relationship or listing.
You may opt out of electronic marketing communications at any time by:
- using an unsubscribe link where available; or
- contacting us using the details in this Policy.
We will not require you to receive direct marketing as a condition of using basic public map functionality unless the communication is operationally necessary.

14. Overseas disclosure and processing
Some technology, hosting, analytics, communications, security, mapping or other service providers we use may store or process information outside Australia.
The countries in which information may be processed can vary depending on the providers and infrastructure used from time to time and may include countries such as the United States, Singapore, member states of the European Union, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions where our service providers maintain infrastructure.
Where Australian privacy law applies, we will take reasonable steps required by law in connection with overseas disclosures.
Overseas privacy laws may differ from Australian law.
15. Data storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from:

Backups and archived records may persist for a limited period after deletion from active systems.
17. Access to and correction of personal information
Where required by law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and request correction if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
To make a request, contact us using the details below.
We may ask you to verify your identity before processing a request.
In some circumstances, we may lawfully refuse access or correction. If we do so, we will generally explain the reason where required by law.
There is no charge to make an access request. We may charge a reasonable amount for costs incurred in providing access where permitted by law.
18. Business listing corrections and removal requests
If you are authorised to act for a business displayed on New Groove Map, you may ask us to:
- correct business details;
- update contact information;
- change a category;
- correct a map location;
- replace outdated images or logos;
- correct opening hours;
- amend inaccurate descriptions; or
- review removal of a listing.
We may require reasonable evidence that you are authorised to act for the business.
Removal is not automatic merely because information is publicly available elsewhere. We will consider the nature of the information, accuracy, legal obligations, public interest, contractual arrangements and applicable law.
19. Anonymity and pseudonymity
Where lawful and practicable, you may interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym.
For example, you may generally browse public map listings without identifying yourself.
Identification may be required where it is impracticable to deal with you anonymously, including where you:

- seek control of an existing business listing;
- request correction or deletion of information;
- enter a commercial arrangement with us;
- make a legal or privacy request; or
- need us to verify authority or identity.

We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children where it is unnecessary for Platform functionality.
If we become aware that personal information about a child has been collected in circumstances where it should not have been, we will take reasonable steps to address the issue.
A parent or guardian who has concerns may contact us using the details below.
21. Data breaches
Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act applies, we will assess suspected eligible data breaches and, where required, notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
We may also take other remedial or notification steps where required by law or reasonably appropriate in the circumstances.
22. Links to third-party websites and businesses
New Groove Map contains or may contain links to:
- business websites;
- social media pages;
- third-party booking systems;
- third-party ordering platforms;

Those third parties operate independently from us.
Their handling of personal information is governed by their own privacy policies and practices. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information to a third party.
23. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us first so we can investigate and respond.
Please include enough information for us to understand the issue and your preferred resolution.
We will seek to acknowledge and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with our response and the Privacy Act applies to the matter, you may be entitled to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
